The closed-off front grille features an intricate pattern that illuminates when approaching the vehicle, while aerodynamically optimized 18-inch alloy wheels and a slightly lowered stance contribute to the impressive efficiency numbers. Even the paint options receive special treatment – the Gravity Gray and Electric Blue shades incorporate reflective pigments that reduce heat absorption, minimizing climate control load.
Range That Rewrites the Rulebook
In a market where range anxiety remains the primary deterrent to EV adoption, Hyundai has thrown down the gauntlet with the Creta EV’s ARAI-certified 450km range. This isn’t just marginally better than competitors – it’s a paradigm shift that brings true highway freedom to the electric SUV segment.
“Last weekend, we drove from Pune to Mumbai and back on a single charge, with about 80km range still showing,” shares Ananya Desai, a pharmaceutical executive who traded in her diesel Creta for the electric version. “That kind of confidence was simply unimaginable in earlier EVs.”
The 71.4kWh battery pack supports multiple charging options – from a standard 15A household socket (which takes approximately 28 hours for a full charge) to a 50kW DC fast charger that can replenish from 10% to 80% in just 59 minutes. Hyundai has also introduced a novel battery pre-conditioning feature that optimizes charging efficiency in extreme temperatures.
Cabin Craft: Redefining Premium Electric Interiors
Step inside, and the Creta EV immediately distances itself from both its fossil-fueled sibling and electric competitors. The minimalist dashboard centered around a 12.3-inch curved display exudes a distinctly upmarket aura, complemented by sustainable materials that don’t scream “compromise.”
“The recycled PET fabric upholstery feels more premium than leather,” notes Kavita Menon, an environmental consultant who previously owned a luxury German sedan. “And knowing no animals were harmed in making my car’s interior brings an emotional satisfaction that traditional luxury can’t match.”

Hyundai’s engineers have exploited the packaging advantages of the electric platform to carve out additional interior space. Rear passengers enjoy three centimeters more legroom than in the ICE Creta, while the flat floor enhances the sense of spaciousness. The panoramic glass roof, standard on higher trims, floods the cabin with natural light, creating an airy atmosphere that belies the vehicle’s compact external dimensions.
Driving Dynamics: Silence Meets Substance
With 204hp and 310Nm of instantaneous torque on tap, the Creta EV delivers performance that will raise eyebrows at traffic lights. The sprint from standstill to 100kmph takes just 8.2 seconds – quicker than many petrol-powered “sporty” hatchbacks.
“The acceleration is addictive, but what really impressed me was the handling,” says Vikram Chandra, a former rally driver who now reviews cars for a Delhi-based automotive magazine. “Hyundai has mounted the battery pack low in the chassis, giving the Creta EV a center of gravity that its fossil-fuel counterpart can only dream about. The result is surprisingly agile cornering without compromising ride comfort.”
The four-level regenerative braking system, adjustable via steering-mounted paddles, allows for one-pedal driving in urban environments – a feature that quickly becomes second nature and significantly boosts range in stop-start traffic.

Each purchase includes a 7.2kW AC wallbox charger with installation, a comprehensive 8-year/160,000km battery warranty, and five years of roadside assistance with emergency charging support. The Bluelink connected car technology allows remote monitoring of charging status, pre-conditioning of the cabin climate, and even scheduling charging sessions to exploit cheaper night-time electricity tariffs.
As the sun sets on our meeting, Sharma prepares for his evening commute. “It’s not just a car,” he reflects, pressing the illuminated start button. “It’s a glimpse of the future that’s arrived sooner than any of us expected.”
